Military and strategic expert, Colonel Hatem Karim Al-Falahi, ruled out the ability of the Israeli military sectors present on the northern front to open a major battle with Lebanon for many reasons.
Al-Falahi pointed out – during his analysis of the military scene in the region – that there are 5 Israeli military divisions stationed on the northern front, including the “210” division, which is responsible for protecting the border with Syria, and the “91” division, which is tasked with protecting the border with Lebanon.
He pointed out the presence of the regular “36th” Division after it was withdrawn from the Gaza Strip following the second phase to the northern front, and the “99th” Division, which was also fighting in the Strip, alongside the “146th” Division, which is a reserve division.
The strategic expert believes that these military sectors are not sufficient to open a land front with Lebanon, similar to what happened in the Gaza Strip, as they cannot cover the large areas in Lebanon compared to the narrow coastal sector.
He added that the Israeli forces were severely damaged in the Gaza war and were suffering from a shortage of equipment, ammunition and combat forces, but at the same time he said that these forces could escalate on the front and increase the pace of military operations there.
Earlier today, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli occupation army, Herzi Halevi, said that “the army is operating forcefully in the north and is on high alert with operational plans ready,” adding that “the army is ready for any mission that may be asked to carry out.”
This came a day after statements made by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant, in which he expressed from the Netzarim axis in the Gaza Strip “the army’s readiness to thwart any threats in all arenas, near and far, and to transfer the center of military gravity to the northern front immediately.”
