The first two quarter-finals took place on Friday in Abidjan. And it was Nigeria who did well in the first match by winning against Angola (1-0). In the second meeting, DR Congo mastered its subject against Guinea (3-1).

Nigeria, favorite for the first quarter-final of CAN 2024, did not strain its talent to beat Angola (1-0) and qualify for the last four of the competition, Friday at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium in Abidjan. The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, impressive against Cameroon in the previous round (2-0), made the difference through Ademola Lookman.

In the evening, DR Congo, trailing but more enterprising than its opponent, snatched its qualification for the semi-finals by defeating Guinea (3-1). The Leopards had not made the last four since 2015, when they were beaten by the future winners, Côte d’Ivoire (3-1) – who they could find on their way in the next round if the Elephants beat Mali in Saturday’s quarter-final clash. Finally, the final place in the last four will be played between Cape Verde and South Africa.
