Ministers in the Israeli government called for launching an attack on the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iran, indicating that postponing the battle with Iran could lead to the destruction of Israel, while the Minister in the War Council, Benny Gantz, called on the mayors of towns in northern Israel to prepare for more difficult days, amid media reports stating that the army is preparing to launch… An attack on Hezbollah and that it is waiting for the political level.

The extremist Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, called for launching a comprehensive war against Hezbollah, and the Israeli newspaper Maariv quoted Ben Gvir as saying that there would be no choice but to fight Hezbollah by entering Lebanon and fighting there.

Ben Gvir’s statements came after Hezbollah’s operation yesterday, which led to the killing and wounding of a number of Israelis in the town of Hurfish in the Upper Galilee, as a result of the fall of a bomb-laden drone launched from Lebanon, which Israel claimed fell on a football field.

Yesterday, in the cabinet session, Israeli Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar called for launching a strong, preemptive attack against Iran and Hezbollah, noting that “postponing the campaign against Iran and destroying its nuclear capabilities may lead, God forbid, to the destruction of Israel.”

According to him, “It is time to abandon procrastination and launch a strong and proactive attack that will disable Hezbollah’s capabilities and eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat before it is too late.”

Minister Zohar touched on the Al-Aqsa flood battle, claiming that “the time has come to say clearly that postponing the battle to destroy Hamas brought us the disaster of October 7th.”

He added, warning, “Postponing the battle to destroy Hezbollah’s capabilities will bring us a greater and more horrific catastrophe, and we are already paying heavy prices, while the peak has not yet come.”

The future is more problematic

In a related context, Israeli War Council Minister Benny Gantz informed the heads of towns located in northern Israel, on the border with Lebanon, that they must prepare for more difficult days in the north.

Israeli Channel 12 quoted Gantz as saying during a meeting with them two days ago that they should not complain about the present; Because the future may be more problematic.

Gantz asked the town leaders to prepare for fighting and more difficult days, which could lead them to war.

Since October 8, 2023, Palestinian and Lebanese factions in Lebanon, including Hezbollah and the Israeli occupation army, have exchanged intermittent daily bombardments, resulting in hundreds killed and wounded, most of them on the Lebanese side.

The army is preparing

In this context, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported from unnamed sources that the occupation army is preparing for the possibility that the political echelon will ask it to start a war on Lebanon and has presented plans for a limited-term war in southern Lebanon only.

According to these sources, “there is a high possibility that a comprehensive war on Lebanon will lead to the opening of other fronts before Iran and the Houthis.”

The sources indicated that the change in “the Israeli army’s position was due to the increase in Hezbollah’s bombing and the expansion of its range,” and explained that the army is concerned with adapting the objectives of any war on Lebanon to its current situation after 8 months of battles in the Gaza Strip.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that the army believes that Hezbollah’s attack on Hurfish yesterday is the worst scenario, as not only are precision weapons from the air able to penetrate northern Israel without being intercepted, but also no warning is given.

As a result of Hezbollah launching missiles and explosive drones from Lebanon, as part of these mutual attacks, since last Sunday, settlements and towns in northern Israel have witnessed many fires, the ignition of which has been exacerbated by the hot weather that the region is currently witnessing.
