The Hungarian capital celebrates its 150th anniversary. This anniversary does not concern the creation of the city itself, but the unification of the three historical parts which founded it, it concerns three other cities named: Buda, Pest and Óbuda. The merger of these three cities was definitively ratified in 1873 following the Austro-Hungarian compromise of 1867. The country thus acquired, on November 17, 1873, a real capital, Budapest then becoming the fastest growing European city.

For its 150th anniversary, the Hungarian capital will offer a series of cultural events throughout the year, including the Spring Festival. The town hall gardens will be exceptionally accessible to the public. The highlight of this commemorative year will be the reopening of the Chain Bridge, the most famous monument on the Danube.
