Trade unions in Britain organized protests to denounce the support provided by arms companies to Israel, which it uses in the war it has been waging in the Gaza Strip for more than two months.
The vicinity of the L3 Harris complex for manufacturing precision-guided ammunition in the city of Brighton, southern Britain, witnessed a protest called by trade unions to close the entrances of 4 major arms manufacturing companies that contribute to their export to Israel.
The stance comes in response to the calls of Palestinian trade unions, addressed to the workers of the world in solidarity, to stop arms exports to Israel and force it to stop what they describe as crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians.
These labor movements also aim to pressure the British government to engage in efforts for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
According to Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent, Asad Allah Al-Sawy, this stop is one of two stops in front of the British factory aimed at blocking its doors to prevent the entry of any trucks carrying components used in the manufacture of ammunition and weapons supplied to Israel.
It is noteworthy that the participants in the protest are members of various unions, including doctors, teachers, and workers in the health sector, transportation sectors, and others. They are demanding – according to the correspondent – cutting off arms supplies to Israel and putting pressure on the British government to demand an immediate ceasefire.
The demonstrators say that the British government should not be complicit in the mass killings and ethnic cleansing carried out by the occupation forces in Gaza.
The reporter confirmed that “L3 Harris” is one of 4 major factories in Britain in 4 different cities where demonstrations are taking place, a movement taking place in coordination with unions in other countries, including Denmark, the Netherlands, and France.
He said that today’s protest is part of the process of escalation of protests in Britain, denouncing the government position and also the opposition position rejecting the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip at the present time.
