British and international lawyers have filed a complaint against war crimes against 10 British who fought with the Israeli army in Gaza.
A file against 10 British nationals accused of war crimes while they were fighting for Israel in the besieged and bombed Gaza Strip was deposited in the Metropolitan Police in London by a leading lawyer for human rights.
The 240 -page report, compiled by Michael Mansfield and other lawyers in The Hague, was submitted Monday in the name of the Palestinian Human Rights Center (PCHR) and the British -based Public Interest Center (PIC) – which represent the Palestinians in Gaza and the United Kingdom.
They are accused of having committed war crimes and crimes against humanity, in particular extermination, displacement and murder.
“I could not bear what I saw: corpses dispersed next to each other,” said a witness whose relatives were killed during an Israeli attack in the testimony collected by PCHR.
The report, which has not been published, calls on an urgent investigation into allegations which include the targeted murder of civilians and humanitarian workers, according to several media.
It would provide detailed evidence, fully sought after and solid from their involvement in these serious crimes, and specifically identified 10 people who have not been named publicly, some of whom hold Israeli citizenship.
Jonah Hull of Tel Aviv Tribune, reporting from London Scotland, said the report was not made public for legal reasons.
The report accuses suspects of “coordinated attacks against protected sites, including historic monuments and religious sites, and the transfer and forced displacement of civilians”, according to the newspaper The Guardian.
The British media quoted Sean Summerfield, a lawyer who helped compile the file, saying that research was based on open-source evidence and testimonies of witnesses, who together presented a “convincing” case.
We hold on the collapse of the order rule because some states have taken on them … to act with impunity, “Mansfield told journalists outside the police building.
Addressing the United States Information Site, Zeteo, Mansfield said that allegations also include “mass murder, mass destruction and mass movement”.
The report indicates that the United Kingdom has a responsibility under international law to investigate and pursue those who have committed international crimes.
When asked if the British government should prohibit British nationals from serving in the Israeli army, Mansfield said: “It would be possible for the government to indicate, as they have done on other occasions, that it would be illegal to join an army which, in its opinion, waged an illegal war.”
Mansfield has also spoken of the lack of government action, saying that many nations around the world “do nothing” and rather support the Israeli government.
“I think that is another reason why the Palestinian Center for Human Rights and the Center of Public Interest decided, so to speak, the government … in action,” said Mansfield.
Since Israel has renewed its assault against Gaza on March 18, ending a short-term ceasefire with Hamas, it has prompted to grasp the territory by force and has so far killed more than 1,300 people, according to the Enclave Ministry of Health.
More than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, most women and children.
