British media reports stated that up to 300 children from Gaza to the United Kingdom will be evacuated in the coming weeks for medical treatment, in light of the continued deterioration of health conditions due to the ongoing aggression on the sector.
The British Press Agency (BA Media) reported that these plans are scheduled to be announced within weeks.
The Sunday Times reported that every sick child will be accompanied by one of the parents, guardian, or one of his relatives if necessary, and that the British Interior Ministry will conduct biometric and security checks for them before traveling.
This is scheduled to happen in parallel with the initiative of the Bruges Pure Hope group, which was established to transport sick and injured children in Gaza to Britain in particular for treatment.
British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer said last week that Britain was “urgently speeding” efforts to transfer children to Britain for treatment.
“We are taking steps to evacuate more children from Gaza, who need urgent medical treatment, and this includes bringing them to Britain to receive specialized treatment that is the best option to take care of them,” said a government spokesman.
“We are working at a quick pace to do so as soon as possible, and more details are announced in time.”
