Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva submitted a proposal for the United Nations on Saturday, stipulating the formation of a new mediation channel in an effort to find an end to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine for more than 3 years.

Da Silva called on the United Nations to form a committee from unwanted countries in the Russian -Ukrainian war and assign it to seek a solution to this conflict, without calling specific countries.

This initiative, which was launched by the Brazilian President at a press conference during his visit to France, comes after his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron spoke this week about a “very important role” for Brazil in ending the war.

Moscow and Kayef are holding direct peace talks in Istanbul, which has not yet failed to reach a truce, and none of the parties have been able to resolve the continuous war between them militarily in his favor.

“The United Nations can play a major role in this matter again,” Lola said, describing the United Nations Secretary -General Antonio Guterres as a “good man.”

He added that the Secretary -General of the United Nations should “propose a group of friends” to both Ukrainian Presidents Folodimir Zellinski and Russian Vladimir Putin “to speak to them and listen to the relevant facts from them, then build an alternative.

He continued, “What I suggest is the establishment of a committee from countries that are not involved in the war to speak to Zelinski and Putin.”

“None of the two parties will get what he wants, but they can get what is possible,” he said, adding, “No 100% of Zellinski’s position nor 100% of Putin’s position.”

Unlike most European countries, Lula maintains friendly relations with Moscow, and has committed to neutrality towards the attack on Ukraine.

Lola, whose country will host the BRICS Group in Rio de Janeiro next July, revealed that Putin was invited to the summit despite the issuance of an arrest warrant against him by the International Criminal Court on charges of illegally deporting Ukrainian children to Russia.
