European Union foreign and security policy chief Josep Borrell said that double standards regarding the situation in Gaza and the decision of the International Court of Justice must be avoided.

He added – during the Shangri-La Security Forum in Singapore – that there are questions that we must answer regarding Ukraine, Gaza, and the issue of respect for international laws, as it is clear that international humanitarian law is no longer respected enough.

Yesterday evening, Friday, Borrell announced – via a post on the X platform – his support for a road map announced by US President Joe Biden, for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of detainees, and the reconstruction of the Strip, stressing that the war must end now.

Biden said – in a press conference at the White House – that Israel presented a three-stage proposal that includes a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of detainees, and the reconstruction of the Strip.

The Israeli war on Gaza left more than 118,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues this war, ignoring a Security Council resolution demanding that it stop the fighting immediately, and orders from the Court of Justice demanding that it stop its attack on Rafah, take immediate measures to prevent acts of genocide, and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
