The head of the FAA believes that the aircraft manufacturer must commit to making “real and significant improvements”.

The US Aviation Agency, the FAA, is giving Boeing 90 days to develop a plan to resolve quality issues and meet safety standards for building new planes.

The agency is currently auditing assembly lines at the factory near Seattle, where Boeing builds planes like the 737 Max that suffered a door panel burst in January.

Investigators say the bolts to hold the panel in place were missing after the repair work.

The FAA did not specify what action it might take if Boeing fails to meet the 90-day deadline.
