US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that “it was necessary to maintain support for Israel to prevent the expansion of the conflict with the resulting death and destruction.”
Blinken stressed – in an interview with the New York Times – that President Joe Biden’s administration still believes that reaching a ceasefire agreement that returns detainees to their homes is the fastest and most effective way to permanently end the conflict in Gaza.
He added that the suffering in Gaza forces the US administration to do everything it can to end the conflict. He continued, “We believed at times that Israel was not doing enough regarding aid, and we pressured it to take action.”
The American minister pointed out that the administration spent months working on a post-war plan in Gaza with many countries, especially with what he described as “Arab partners.”
He stressed that if this administration does not have the opportunity to implement it, it will hand it over to the administration of President-elect Donald Trump, which will decide whether to implement it.
Blinken said that “Israel destroyed Hamas’ military capabilities and eliminated the leadership responsible for the events of October 7.”
With absolute American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 154,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst disasters. Humanity in the world
Israel continues its massacres, ignoring two arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court, last November 21, against the Prime Minister and the former Minister of Defense, for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinians.
