US President Joe Biden has expressed concern over the escalation of violence in the West Bank, and called on Israel to ensure “full accountability” after the killing of Turkish-American activist Aisha Nur Ege in the West Bank by the occupation army.

Biden said in a statement on Wednesday that violence in the West Bank has been occurring for a long time, with extremist settlers uprooting Palestinians from their homes, while Palestinians send car bombs to kill civilians.

He stressed that he will continue to support policies that hold all extremists accountable, whether they are Israelis or Palestinians, he said.

On the other hand, the US President considered the shooting of activist Aisha Nour by an Israeli sniper in the West Bank unacceptable, and called for full accountability for her killing.

He noted that although Israel bears responsibility for her death, the US government expects to continue to be informed of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the shooting, adding, “There must be full accountability, and Israel must do more to ensure that such incidents never happen again.”

Yesterday, Biden described the killing of Aisha Noor as “apparently an accident,” adding, “The bullet ricocheted off the ground and hit the activist by accident,” in a statement that came shortly after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called on the Israeli army to make “fundamental changes” after the young woman’s “unjustified” killing, as he put it.

Nour, 26, was shot dead last Friday while taking part in a protest march against settlements in the town of Beita, near Nablus, where Palestinians have been repeatedly attacked by far-right Jewish settlers.
