At 28, the Borussia Dortmund defender is a regular in the Algerian selection. Since his first match in January 2017, Ramy Bensebaini has played three African Nations Cups with Algeria: in 2017, in 2021 and especially in 2019, the year in which the Fennecs won the second CAN in their history.

The player who played for several Ligue 1 clubs (Montpellier and Rennes) also took on a new dimension this season by joining Borussia Dortmund, where he has notably played five Champions League matches so far.

This major takeover by Ramy Bensebaini can only be beneficial to the Fennecs in Ivory Coast, where Algeria will undoubtedly be keen to redeem themselves after their failed edition in 2021 (elimination in the first round).

Before becoming a sure bet for the Carthage Eagles, the Union Berlin midfielder hesitated for a long time before choosing which selection he was going to play for. Due to her triple nationality (French, Algerian and Tunisian), Aïssa Laïdouni seemed at first have a preference for Fennecsbut his choice ultimately fell on Tunisia.

Since his first selection, in March 2021, the Tunisian international has played in an African Cup of Nations then a World Cup with the Carthage Eagles.

Asset of the midfield of Tunisia, Aïssa Laïdouni will not be too much to defend the colors of her selection in the absence of Hannibal Mejbri and the emblematic captain Wahbi Khazriwho retired internationally at the end of 2022.

The VfB Stuttgart striker is new to Syli National. His first selection dates back to March 2022 and since then, Serhou Guirassy has scored three goals in 12 matches. Before defending the colors of Guinea, the slender player did his international youth classes in France between 2012 and 2016.

Serhou Guirassy joins CAN 2024 while he has been in sparkling form in the Bundesliga since the start of the season (17 goals in 14 matches with his club). His offensive potential will undoubtedly be an additional asset for Guinea, which also counts other confirmed attackers in its ranks – Mohamed Bayo, Morgan Guilavogui and François Kamano.

Unless the party is spoiled early: Serhou Guirassy was injured during a preparation match against Nigeria, January 8. His participation in the competition in Ivory Coast, however, did not seem to be in question at the time of writing this article.

The Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder is a new addition to the Algerian selection. When he emerged in Toulouse, Farès Chaïbi very quickly attracted the attention of the Algerian Football Federation. Called up to U23 in 2022he preferred to decline initially for a “question of timing”.

But the coach of the Fennecs A team, Djamel Belmadi, had an eye on him and it was logical that he called him up for the first time in March 2023. Since then, Farès Chaïbi has reached a new milestone (in club) by joining Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. At 21, he is charting his upward path in the professional world and is preparing to do the same with Algeria in Ivory Coast in the coming weeks.

This was an opportunity for the young striker to accumulate experience in the African competition, where the Pharaohs reached the final (defeat to Senegal 0-0, tab 4-2). The rest of his adventure with his selection will be written in Côte d’Ivoire, where Egypt is one of the favorites for the final victory.
