In Belgrade, after a week of daily rallies, demonstrators attempted to storm the town hall of the Serbian capital.
Police were barricaded inside the building and fired tear gas to disperse the crowd.
According to the Serbian presidency, 35 people were arrested, two police officers were seriously injured.
The presidential palace of Aleksandar Vučić is less than a hundred meters from the town hall.
Aleksandar Vučić, Serbian President: “We have been reporting this for days. We have been warning for days that they are preparing for this because they know that people don’t want to vote for them, because they know that “They will never be able to gain the public’s trust. We have been warning the foreign postman for days about what is happening.”
Aleksandar Vučić did not specify what foreign influence he was referring to.
The Serbian opposition has demonstrated every day since the announcement of the results of the legislative elections on December 17.
A team of international observers denounced a series of “irregularities”, including vote buying and ballot stuffing.
