For its part, the Iraqi Security Media Cell, the official body concerned with the deployment of security information, said that the two companies were “unknown to the source”, explaining that the attack led to material damage only in the location of the oil field near the city of Erbil, and that coordination is underway with the security and intelligence forces in the region to investigate the circumstances of the attack.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, which comes as part of a frequent series of targeting operations with drones and missiles in Iraq in recent weeks, especially in the north of the country, and often the enlightenings in uninhabited areas, without any party to announce their responsibility for them.
On July 3, the region’s authorities announced the dropping of a car bomb near the Erbil International Airport, where there is a base for the United States -led international coalition forces to fight the Islamic State.
At that time, the provincial Ministry of Interior accused factions of the popular crowd of being behind the attack, which was rejected by the Iraqi federal government, and considered it an accusation “unacceptable and not allowed” without evidence.
