At least 35 people dead in building fire in Kuwait


The flames have been brought under control but authorities are still on scene to determine the source of the fire.

At least 35 people died in apartment building fire early Wednesday in Kuwaitaccording to the government news agency KUNA.

Another 15 people were injured in the fire, which broke out in Mangaf district in southern Kuwait’s Ahmadi governorate, the Health Ministry said.

All the injured, some of whom are in critical condition, were transported to several nearby hospitals to receive medical treatment.

The flames were brought under control and authorities are combing the area to identify the cause of the firesays KUNA, citing Major General Eid al-Oweihan, head of forensic evidence at the Interior Ministry.

This tragedy recalls the fire at the Mina al-Ahmadi oil refinery which caused four victims in Kuwait in 2022.
