At least 20 people were killed on Wednesday in the town of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip. The strike hit a two-story building near Al-Aqsa Hospital.

According to the latest report from Hamas, in power in the Palestinian enclave, the Israeli army has killed more than 23,000 Palestinians since the start of the war and injured nearly 60,000. The Islamist movement estimates that 2/3 of these victims are women and children.

For his part, the Israeli Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, visited IDF commanders. He insisted on the capacity of the armed forces to face all types of combat: “There is not a square kilometer in Gaza that you do not know how to enter, that you do not know how to dismantle, it does not exist. After what you have done, there is not a village in Lebanon that you cannot enter and dismantle“, he insisted.

Israeli leaders have said their patience is running out with Hezbollah. The Lebanese Shiite militia, allied with Hamas, has launched several attacks against the Israeli armed forces in recent days, without causing much damage.

Hamas and many Palestinians also welcomed South Africa’s action because Pretoria filed a complaint for “genocidal acts” against Israel before the International Court of Justice, the highest court of the UN.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled to begin this Thursday.
