An Tel Aviv Tribune correspondent reported that the families of Israeli prisoners in Gaza demonstrated in front of the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Tel Aviv, at a time when the Israeli police arrested 7 demonstrators in Haifa during a demonstration demanding an end to the war on the Palestinian Strip.
The correspondent said that the demonstrators in front of the Ministry of Defense are demanding an exchange deal with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), coinciding with a meeting of the Israeli War Council in which disagreements are raging.
In a related context, Israeli Channel 12 reported that the families of the prisoners who met with the head of the Israeli National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, said that he “rebuked and insulted them,” apparently because of their recent movements that have begun to disturb the government.
The channel added that the families acknowledge that the Israeli government will not be able to complete the return of all detainees.
Protests have escalated in Israel over the past months against the government of Benjamin Netanyahu and the war council, with accusations of failure and negligence in reaching an agreement with Hamas that would guarantee the release of prisoners.

Arrests in Haifa
In a related context, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that the Israeli police arrested 7 demonstrators during a demonstration in the city of Haifa demanding an end to the war on Gaza.
Dozens of Palestinians demonstrated in the city of Haifa – Thursday evening – in rejection of the continuation of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli police were deployed in Haifa coinciding with the start of the demonstrations called by internal Palestinian movements to demand an end to the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.
With the mediation of Doha and Cairo and the participation of Washington, indirect and faltering negotiations have been taking place between Hamas and Israel for months to reach an agreement to exchange prisoners and ceasefire.
Israel continues its devastating war on Gaza despite the Security Council issuing a resolution to stop the fighting immediately, and despite the International Court of Justice demanding that it take immediate measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the humanitarian situation in the besieged Strip.
To date, the war has left 36,224 martyrs, 81,777 injured, and more than 10,000 missing.
