Some US officials have spoken of the need to protect innocent Palestinian lives, but US President Joe Biden has said almost nothing.
Steven Cook, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, said it was a mistake for Biden to have offered the “bear hug” – full and unconditional support for Israel.
Today, Biden is stuck in the position of providing Israel with the means to kill more Palestinians while demanding Israel allow basic food and water into Gaza.
