The Greek Prime Minister’s trip to Ankara marks the warming of relations between the two countries, and comes less than six months after the Turkish President’s visit to Athens.
Upon his arrival at the presidential palace in Ankara, the Greek Prime Minister is kindly welcomed by Recep Tayip Erdogan.
However, between the two neighbors, the subjects of discord are numerous and old, in particular concerning territorial and migration questions. But the two leaders nevertheless wish to maintain good neighborly relations.
“We believe that strengthening the spirit of cooperation between Turkey and Greece will be beneficial for our entire region. We have just had a very effective, sincere and constructive meeting with the Prime Minister“, declared the Turkish president.
“Both neighbors can establish this approach to mutual understanding, no longer as an exception, but as a productive normality that is not canceled by the well-known differences that we have“, declared Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek Prime Minister.
Recep Tayip Erdogan and Kyriakos Mitsotakis are expected to meet again at the NATO summit, scheduled for July in Washington.
