The military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, said, “I had an old dream of being a professor at the university, but the circumstances and conditions existing in that period of poverty, want, and need were burdening my family and brothers,” so the other option was to apply to what is known as the Military College.”
The phrase “Analyze, Duwairi” has become an icon on social media, in reference to the distinguished effort made by Al-Duwairi in his analysis of the daily events that the Gaza Strip has been subjected to by the Israeli occupation since October 7, 2023 until today.
A fighter from the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – addressed Al-Duwairi with the phrase, “Analyze, Duwairi,” asking him to analyze a clip in which he targeted an Israeli force holed up in a house in the Gaza Strip.
In an attempt to shed light on various aspects of Major General Al-Duwairi’s life, Tel Aviv Tribune Net conducted a special interview with him to reveal his upbringing, academic training, and the positions he held, in addition to many aspects of his personality that are not reflected by satellite cameras.
I was born in the 1950s, on March 2, 1952, in a village in the countryside of Irbid Governorate (northern Jordan) called “Kutum.”
Regarding his inner feeling when he comes forward to analyze the events in Gaza, he says, “I am living the event because of the extraordinary act that I see, and despite my nose, I feel proud and proud. My blood is Arab, I am Muslim, and Palestine is my cause, and this fighter is my brother or son, so when I watch this matter Heroic: I move emotionally and get emotional, my facial features change, and the tone of my voice changes.”
Regarding the comments and arrows of criticism that accuse him of bias, Major General Al-Duwairi said, “I never read them, I do not concern myself with them, and I do not have the luxury of time to respond to those who criticize for the sake of criticism alone.”
He also pointed out that the political leadership in the Hamas movement is still consistent with its distinguished field performance, but a single hand does not clap, and Hamas must be supported both in the military and political aspects.
It is noteworthy that Fayez Al-Duwairi obtained a doctorate degree in philosophies of education, worked as a university professor, and wrote a book entitled “National Security” published in 2013. In addition to his bachelor’s degree from Jordan, he obtained another degree in administrative and military sciences and strategic defense management from Pakistan.
And the details of the dialogue..

How did you receive the phrase “Analyze, Douiri,” which turned into an icon on social media platforms?
The beginning was in the letters of the masked man, Abu Ubaida. Some people even went so far as to imagine that there was a channel of communication between us, but since I am analyzing as realistically as I can, and Abu Ubaida is also a son of reality, then the lines between us converge.
I also did not expect this scream (Hallelujah, Douiri) when I heard it for the first time, and it was a surprise to me. When I entered the studio, the presenter of the program was very clever and intelligent, and he said, “Is this your name?” I said: Yes, I will analyze.
And if you want to ask me about my feelings and feelings, I will tell you that it is the most beautiful medal that I dreamed of hoisting on my chest, to call out from the heart of the battle: “Release, O Doueiri.” This is a testimony that I am proud of, and I am proud that what I presented is in line with the event, even if it does not rise to its level, but it embodies the event.
In addition, I found this call to be an embodiment of the work of the military analyst, with its realism, credibility, and the methodology adopted as commensurate with the magnitude of the event. It had a very good effect on me and brought happiness and hope to my soul, and gave me the determination and insistence to continue performing the message, which I felt covered part of the reality of what was happening. .

What about the environment in which you grew up and the educational training you received?
I was born in the fifties of the last century, on March 2, 1952, in a village in the countryside of Irbid Governorate (northern Jordan) called “Kutm,” but the common pronunciation in the popular dialect is “cursing,” so I say I am the son of “cursing.” A rural family representing the Jordanian countryside with its simple, primitive but beautiful life. I joined school at a normal age, and the school in the village was only elementary, so I moved with my peers to the “Al-Naima” school in a neighboring town, 5 kilometers away, and completed the preparatory stage. Then we moved to the secondary school in the village. The largest is called “Al-Hosn” and is 7 kilometers to the north.
After that, I had several options; One of them is to go to university, and this is my preferred option, because I have an old dream of being a professor at the university, but the circumstances and circumstances existing in that period of poverty, destitution and need were burdening my family and brothers, because there are 3 older brothers than me, and therefore they are the ones who bear the burden; The other option was to apply to what is known as the Military College.
I joined it for two years and graduated as an officer at the end of 1972. I was sent to the Royal Engineering Corps, where I rose from the rank of lieutenant to the rank of brigadier general and became director of the Royal Engineering Corps.
I may be lucky because I have taken many courses covering multiple types of military sciences, and thus I have a broad knowledge base, and I was chosen to be part of the education corps in the Royal Engineers Corps. I started early in the field of training, as I was a training wing commander, a chief trainer, a school commander, and a teacher in the field. Command and Staff College, then director at the War College, and then became commandant of the Command and Staff College.
My blood is Arab, I am Muslim, Palestine is my cause, and this fighter is my brother or son. So when I see this heroic thing, I get emotional and emotional
This dimension gave me a great addition of knowledge to be a teacher, teacher and trainer for more than 17 years. You are obligated to rebuild your military culture. This was one of the motivations for me to study the history of military conflicts from Alexander the Great until the last war. During this period, I regained my ambition, so I went to university and studied in the evenings, obtaining my first bachelor’s degree in Jordan, and a bachelor’s degree in administrative and military sciences and strategic defense management in Pakistan.
After retirement, I went to university and obtained a doctorate from one of the Jordanian universities in educational philosophies, and I worked as a professor for two years at the University of Jordan.

Are there articles and voices accusing you of bias towards the Palestinian resistance in your analyzes on Tel Aviv Tribune?
I find that there is a clear harmony between my personal convictions and the island’s general orientations. I found myself on Tel Aviv Tribune, and this is not to belittle the importance of other satellite channels, but their editorial line is different. I was facing a challenge between the editorial line of some channels and my convictions and personality.
I do not allow words to be put in my mouth. I used to go out on satellite channels from the far right to the far left, and thus in some attempts I found myself in a difficult situation because my words conflicted with the editorial line, and therefore in many cases the interview was cut short under the pretext that “The sound is incomprehensible.”
I speak what I am convinced of, and therefore I found that Tel Aviv Tribune’s editorial line is completely consistent with my convictions, principles, values and orientations, so I felt very comfortable, and during this long period in recent months – despite multiple meetings and repeated daily appearances – I did not receive any note from Tel Aviv Tribune that this should be the case. Such and such, just enter, I, the strategic analyst Fayez Al-Duwairi, with my knowledge, convictions, culture, and freedom. No one interferes in my analysis, nor do I impose myself and put it in a situation where circumstances worsen.

Aside from military and strategic analysis, how do you feel as you analyze the events of the aggression on the Gaza Strip?
When I was analyzing the Russian-Ukrainian war, the topic for me was absolutely in the emotional and emotional dimension. I am talking about two sides of the war, and I have no connection to either of them, nor do I have any inclinations for either of them. I am just an analyst. I describe what is happening and present my readings that may be right or wrong. .
But when I began to analyze the events in Gaza, I was living the event because of the extraordinary act I was witnessing, and despite my nose, I felt proud and proud. My blood is Arab, I am Muslim, and Palestine is my cause, and this fighter is my brother or son. Therefore, when I watch this heroic matter, I move emotionally and get emotional, my facial features change, and the tone of my voice changes despite my nose.
Some people claim that I side with the resistance emotionally and emotionally, and I neither hide nor deny this. I became part of the event, and yet when I describe the battle, I describe it with the utmost impartiality, according to my convictions, and I do not exaggerate
I enter the studio determined to remain absolutely neutral, but absolute neutrality no matter how much I maintain it in describing reality. When I analyze any battle or compare videos from Al-Qassam or Jihad or videos from the Israeli entity, some will see that I am biased, but the truth is that this is a reason for pride, and if I do not… I feel proud because I am abandoning my Arabism; Therefore, I will not give up my religion, I will not give up my principles and values, and I will not give up my Arabism.
Therefore, some people claim that I side with the resistance emotionally and emotionally, and I neither hide nor deny this. I became part of the event, and yet when I describe the battle, I describe it with the utmost impartiality according to my convictions and do not exaggerate, because the reality of what I witnessed during the past nearly 90 days is something extraordinary, and therefore the youth of the resistance I found in them the smell of the drawn sword of God, bare-chested, and Saad bin Abi Waqqas from… Where performance.
The talk spoken by politicians in Hamas is still consistent with military performance, and to be realistic, the challenges in the field differ from them politically.

Some of the responses to your tweets on social media ask about the sources of information that you employ in analyzing the daily events in the aggression against Gaza while you are in Doha?
This war is being covered from more than one side, from a supportive friend and a critical enemy, and all you have to do is follow everything that is written about this war within the time available to you. Now the world has become a small village, and therefore you can obtain information easily.
Regarding comments, I never read comments, I do not concern myself with them, and I do not have the luxury of time to respond to those who criticize just for the sake of criticism.
In the end, it is enough that if you want to know your position, look at the enemy’s arrows. Anyone who criticizes Fayez Al-Duwairi should look at the Israeli media. Does he admire the person Fayez Al-Duwairi, or did he use most of his characters to harm me? Everyone who criticizes Fayez Al-Duwairi, I put him on the Israeli side. This is my belief, and it may not be 100% realistic.

Has Hamas achieved political victories as it achieved field successes in its battles against the Israeli occupation aggression?
The answer to this is still early, but the talk spoken by politicians in Hamas is still consistent with the military performance, and to be realistic, the challenges in the field are different from the political ones, because the political dimension in which the challenges may be more serious from my point of view, because those in the field They know their job, and they know their capabilities.
But the political dimension carries pressures that may be compelling, unjust and deadly, and you have to accept part of them. If we want to attribute the outcome of the battle to the military dimension only, we do not look at the page of destruction and crimes that were committed. Gaza was absolutely destroyed. But if you talk about field performance, and if… You evaluated the progress of the occupation army and whether it achieved its goals or not? We will find that the resistance is still effective and capable.
Therefore, the political leadership is still in harmony with the distinguished field performance, but a single hand does not clap, and Hamas must be supported both in the military dimension and the political aspect, because Hamas is fighting the world with these capabilities; 362 square kilometers and besieged by relatives, strangers, friends and enemies. They are, in the end, human beings with limited endurance and potential. In light of these limitations and these modest capabilities, they have provided beyond imagination. Therefore, Arabs and Muslims must support Hamas’ positions in the military and political dimensions, and we hope so.
