Political analysts believe that there is no way to overthrow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu except through an “Israeli spring,” stressing that the American administration will not go far in its pressure on this man.
Muhammad Halasa, an academic and expert on Israeli affairs, described what is happening within the pillars of government in Israel as chaos that has existed since October 7, a situation that could, he added, disrupt Netanyahu’s coalition, which he said is facing these pressures with a set of measures and sending messages to his opponents. Politicians, especially Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who annoys him.
For his part, Professor of Political Science at An-Najah National University, Dr. Hassan Ayoub, said that the political elite in Israel, especially in the mini-ministerial council and the war government; She suffers from fragmentation. The only thing the conflicting parties agree on is the continuation of the aggression against the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
He added that the most prominent topic of disagreement among Israeli politicians is regarding the priority of the war. Is the priority the release of detainees held by the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip or the continuation of the war?
Support the right
While the two analysts – in their conversation within the program “Gaza… What Next?” – touched on the pressures of US President Joe Biden’s administration on Netanyahu and how the latter does not listen to the Americans, they focused on the factors that would lead to the Israeli Prime Minister’s ouster from power.
In this context, the academic and expert on Israeli affairs explains that the bet is on the internal movement, and whenever it grows and moves to the streets in the form of demonstrations, protests, and sit-ins, this will put pressure on Netanyahu, even though he will try to stifle it.
He said: “It is Israeli society that created a dictator, and it must begin an Israeli spring to overthrow Netanyahu.”
He pointed out that Israeli politicians who criticize the government and its president do not take to the streets as happened during the protests against judicial reforms that preceded October 7.
From the point of view of the expert on Israeli affairs, Netanyahu knows that stopping the war in Gaza means going to prison, because he is facing conviction before and after October 7, and he is haunted by a sense of grandeur and superiority as a prime minister for 17 years, and he lives in a state of narcissism, as He is relying on a right-wing coalition that is in line with his desires to continue the war, and he is intimidating the Israelis by promoting that stopping the war means establishing a Palestinian state.
The professor of political science at An-Najah National University believed that Netanyahu realizes that he will remain in power as long as he enjoys the support of the right in Israel (he has more than 75 seats in the Knesset) and the support of Israeli society, which wants the war in Gaza to continue.
