Political and legal analysts praised the decision of the International Court of Justice, in which it demanded that Israel immediately stop its attack on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, and some of them called on Arab countries to move with other countries supporting the Palestinian cause to put pressure on Israel.

In a decision issued today, Friday, at the request of South Africa, as part of a comprehensive lawsuit accusing Tel Aviv of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, the International Court of Justice said, through its president, Lebanese judge Nawaf Salam, that “according to the Genocide Convention, any additional action in Rafah may lead to… Partial or total destruction.

Lawyer and expert in international law, Dr. Saad Jabbar, believes that the decision issued by the International Court of Justice is extremely important, and gives the opportunity to countries supporting peace and the Palestinian cause to immediately demand that the UN Security Council take a decision regardless of the American vote.

Also, countries that were hesitant in their positions can now take individual decisions against Israel, based on the fact that the latter has become a rogue entity that does not respect international law, is being pursued before the International Criminal Court, and is required to be legally bound before the State Court of Justice.

According to the legal expert, any country – after the decisions of the International Courts of Justice and International Criminal Courts – can boycott Israel, punish it, stop its commercial dealings with it, or assist it militarily, saying that the European Union, for example, will find it difficult from now on to provide aid to Israel.

The Arab countries – the same speaker continues – have a valuable opportunity to exploit the ruling of the International Court of Justice, in cooperation with African, Asian and Latin American countries, to speak with one voice and address the President of the United States of America that the war in the Gaza Strip must be stopped and a Palestinian state must be established.

The decision puts Israel in a corner

As for the Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, the international community is now required to impose sanctions on Israel and punish it militarily and academically, and for the Arab and Islamic countries to be at the forefront of imposing punitive measures on Tel Aviv, which is no longer above international law, according to Barghouti.

Although he stressed the importance of the International Court of Justice’s decision because it is binding according to international law and will put Israel in a corner, Barghouti wished that the decision had called for a comprehensive cessation of the war in the Gaza Strip.

According to the academic and expert on Israeli affairs, Dr. Muhannad Mustafa, the decision puts Israel in embarrassment and harms its reputation, in addition to the fact that it implicates its allies, especially the United States, which he said would fall into a moral collapse if it used its veto power in the Security Council against the decision of the International Court of Justice. .

He said that Israel has proven that it has absolute dependence on the United States, and this weakens it from within and weakens its deterrent power and strategic position.

Regarding the importance of the International Court of Justice’s decision, the lawyer and expert in international law explained that the decision is historic, unique, and binding because the vote on it was unanimous, minus one, and because the court usually does not amend its decisions regarding decisions related to preventive measures except in exceptional cases, and this is one of them.

In addition, the decision came – adds lawyer Jabbar – after the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, requested the issuance of arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Yoav Galant against the backdrop of crimes committed in the Gaza Strip. Jabbar said that this would strengthen the position of the Public Prosecutor, who was fearful and threatened.
