An Iraqi faction bombs the Syrian Golan and wounds American soldiers in “Ain al-Assad” | News

The “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” announced on Sunday that it had bombed a target in the occupied Syrian Golan with drones, while an American official said that American soldiers were slightly injured in an attack on the Iraqi Ain al-Asad air base yesterday.

The Iraqi faction stated – in a statement – that the men of “the Islamic Resistance in Iraq yesterday launched an attack on a military target in the occupied Golan with drones in support of our people in Gaza, and in response to the massacres committed by the usurping entity against Palestinian civilians, including children, women and the elderly.”

The statement explained that “the Islamic Resistance confirms its continued bombing of enemy strongholds.”

American soldiers were injured

On the other hand, an American official – who requested anonymity – said that American soldiers were slightly injured, and that a member of the Iraqi security forces was seriously injured in an attack on the Iraqi Ain al-Asad air base yesterday, Saturday.

The US Central Command said – in a statement – that the base was bombed by a number of ballistic missiles and other types of missiles launched by Iranian-backed factions inside Iraq.

The statement did not confirm the extent of the injuries among the American soldiers, but it stated that the soldiers were being examined to determine the extent of their exposure to brain injuries.

US Central Command said that most of the missiles had been intercepted.

For his part, John Viner, Deputy National Security Advisor at the White House, said on Sunday: “It was a very serious attack, using ballistic missiles that posed a real threat.”

“We will respond by establishing deterrence and holding accountable these groups that continue to attack us,” Viner added. He continued: “You can be assured that we are taking this matter very seriously.”

Since the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip began on October 7, the US military has been attacked at least 58 times in Iraq, and 83 times in Syria, by militants allied with Iran, usually with a combination of missiles and bomb-laden drones.

The United States has 900 soldiers in Syria, and 2,500 soldiers in Iraq.
