The United Nations said on Wednesday that more than 500 Palestinians, a quarter of them children, have been martyred in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs explained that since October 7, more than 500 Palestinians, nearly a quarter of them children, have been martyred in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

He added that the vast majority of them were killed by Israeli forces, while Israeli settlers killed 10 others.

The office stated that during the same period, more than 5,100 Palestinians were injured in those areas.

The office also recorded more than 940 attacks launched by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem since October 7, according to the statement.

Destruction and displacement

He explained that over the past eight months, the Israeli authorities in those areas have demolished and confiscated more than 900 Palestinian buildings, about 40% of which were inhabited homes, which led to the displacement of more than two thousand people.

In this context, the Commission for Prisoners’ and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said that the total number of arrests of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank after October 7 amounted to more than 9,000.

In conjunction with its war on Gaza since October 7, the army and settlers escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, which led to the death of 527 Palestinians and the injury of about 5,000, according to official Palestinian authorities.

The Israeli war on Gaza left more than 119,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
