An accomplice in the murder of Anna Politkovskaya pardoned by Putin for having fought in Ukraine


Sergei Khadzhikurbanov, a former Russian police officer sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the assassination of journalist Anna Politkovskaya in 2006, was pardoned by Vladimir Putin for joining Russian forces in Ukraine.

He was designated by the Russian authorities as the organizer of the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya in 2006. He is today pardoned by Vladimir Putin.

Sentenced to 20 years in prison, former police officer Sergei Khadjikurbanov found freedom after fighting on the Ukrainian front for 6 months. He even signed a new contract with the Ministry of Defense as a volunteer.

The perpetrator of the shooting against Anna Politkovskaya is still behind bars. Those who ordered the murder have never been identified.
