The German Terry Reintke and the Dutchman Bas Eickhout were named as heads of the list during a congress in Lyon.
Five months before the elections, the European Greens are getting into working order. The party congress designated, on Saturday in Lyon, the German Terry Reintke and the Dutchman Bas Eickhout as heads of list for the European elections.
If climate ambition is increasingly contested by certain EU political leaders, the Greens assure that strengthening the European Green Deal remains the only response to international and European challenges.
Bas Eickhout, MEP (the Greens), co-head of the Green list in the European elections: “China has very clear industrial policies. Look at how it manages the electric car. America and the United States are investing a lot of money in green innovation. So the green race is on. And Europe was at the vanguard. Now we stop, we take a break, Rest, any moratorium, whatever it is, will only make the situation worse for our industry. And I think that will be the message to our industry but also to citizens. If you want a future where you have a job of the future, you need the Green Deal.”
The Greens also believe that the fairer climate transition is the best solution to respond to the surge, announced by the polls, from the far right.
