Two Palestinian bodies said that the number of detainees in the West Bank alone has risen to 5,835 since October 7, 2023, the date of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, amid widespread sabotage and destruction operations.

The Palestinian Authority for Prisoners’ and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs (governmental) and the Prisoners’ Club (Ahli) indicated in a joint statement that the occupation forces arrested at least 15 citizens from the West Bank from Friday evening until last Saturday morning, including a number of family members of the Hebron martyrs who were martyred last Friday.

On Friday, the Israeli army announced the killing of 3 Palestinians who it said tried to infiltrate the “Adora” settlement, west of Hebron. It was later revealed that they were from the town of Idhna, west of the city.

The two institutions explained that “the toll includes those who were arrested from homes, through military checkpoints, those who were forced to surrender themselves under pressure, and those who were held hostage.”

According to the Commission and the Club, the arrest operations were concentrated in Hebron, Bethlehem (south), and Jenin (north), and “were accompanied by widespread raids and abuse, in addition to sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes, and severe beatings against detainees and their families.”

According to the statement, the arrest campaigns “escalated in an unprecedented manner after the seventh of last October, not only in terms of the level of the number of detainees, but also in terms of the level of crimes committed, in addition to the raids into the homes of the detainees’ families, which were accompanied by widespread sabotage and destruction operations.”

In its annual report, prisoner affairs institutions indicated that the total number of Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons until the end of December 2023 amounted to about 8,800, including more than 80 female prisoners.

Since the outbreak of the devastating war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, the Israeli army has intensified its military operations in the West Bank and increased the pace of incursions and raids into cities, towns and camps, leaving 347 martyrs as of yesterday, Saturday.

The devastating war on Gaza until last Saturday left 23,843 martyrs, 60,317 injured, “massive infrastructure destruction, and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe,” according to the Gaza Strip authorities and the United Nations.
