Al-Zeer denounces the US sanctions and an international institution stands in solidarity with Al-Ahmar | news

Palestinian activist Majid Al-Zeer on Thursday denounced the US Treasury Department’s decision to put him on the sanctions list, describing it as an unjust measure, while the Palestine International Foundation expressed its solidarity with the Chairman of its Board of Directors, Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, who was subjected to the same sanctions.

The US Treasury placed Al-Zeer and Al-Ahmar on the sanctions list last Monday.

Al-Zeer said, “The false allegations and accusations made by the US Treasury Department come within the context of identification with the will of the Israeli occupation to criminalize everyone who works in favor of the Palestinian cause, defends it, and works under the roof of the law.”

He stressed that during his activity in Europe, he did not work in relief or financial activity, which means that the foundations on which the US Treasury based its decision were invalid and “have nothing to do with the truth or reality.”

The Palestinian activist mocked the US Treasury’s attachment to the sanctions resolution to a photo dating back to 2010 of a meeting he had in Gaza with British parliamentarian Sir Gerald Kaufman and the late head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, who was then the elected Prime Minister of Palestine.

Al-Zeer explained that he initiated legal procedures “in order to refute these allegations and defend my rights, which were clearly violated after what was falsely and slanderously issued and published.”

For its part, the Al-Quds International Foundation announced its rejection and condemnation of the US Treasury’s decision to place the Chairman of its Board of Directors, Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, on the sanctions lists.

She said that the decision “constitutes a continuation of the American-Zionist partnership in the war of abolition and extermination against Palestine and its people.”
