Today, Saturday, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), broadcast a new recording of a captured Israeli soldier in the Gaza Strip, in which she expressed her suffering and directed harsh criticism at the Israeli government, accusing it of negligence in seeking to liberate the prisoners. She also described the difficult circumstances she is living in.
Prisoner Liri Albag (19 years old) said: “I have been a prisoner in Gaza for more than 450 days. My whole life is still ahead of me, but it has stopped here.”
She continued, “Today is the beginning of a new year, and the whole world is celebrating, but we are beginning a dark new year full of loneliness. We are not a priority for our government or our army, and even the world has begun to forget us and does not care about our suffering.”
She sent a touching message to her family, saying: “Mom, Dad, Ronnie, Shay, Jay, Nair… I love you very much and miss you very much.”
Albag spoke about her colleague who was seriously injured due to the recent military operations, saying: “We are living a terrifying nightmare. Our survival is linked to the army’s withdrawal and its failure to reach us.”
She asked her country’s government: “If your loved ones were the ones in captivity, would the war have continued until now? Do you want to kill us?”
The recording showed a scene of the prisoner placing her face on her hands, crying, and sending a direct message to Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, saying: “You know my father. Look into his eyes, and tell him that he and my mother will never hug their daughter again… You will not have the courage for that.”
You are manipulating our destinies
She added in an angry tone: “After I saw my death with my own eyes and what happened with my friend, I realized that our lives are not important to you. I understood that we are just a toy in your hands, and that you are manipulating our destinies. It is certain that you will not be able to get us out alive with military operations… This will not work, and you know that.” “.
Albaj expressed her anger at the ongoing bombing of Gaza, and said: “It is crazy to think that this method will lead to results… We live under insane bombing daily. Do you know what life is like in a place you bomb and there is no shelter?”
At the end of her letter, the prisoner soldier said: “If anything happens to me, remember me and remember my name… so that it will be written on my grave: All of this is because of the government and the army. They are the ones who are convicted, they are accused of killing us, and my blood is on their hands.” Then she concluded her speech with an appeal addressed to her family by saying: “ My family, do whatever you need.”
The recording showed the deteriorating psychological state of the female soldier, who confirmed that the current situation now constitutes a real threat to her life and the lives of the rest of the prisoners.
After Al-Qassam published the prisoner’s letter, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted her mother as saying, “We need actions from (Benjamin) Netanyahu and his government to make a decision to return the prisoners,” while the Israeli Prisoners’ Families Association considered that the sign of life from Leri Al-Pag is strong evidence of the necessity of urgently returning all the prisoners from prison. Gaza Strip.
About a month ago, the Al-Qassam Brigades broadcast a recording of Israeli prisoner Matan Zanjauker, in which he directed sharp criticism at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, holding him responsible for the continued detention of prisoners in Gaza. He also spoke about the conditions of his detention.
A few days before that, Hamas announced the killing of 33 Israeli prisoners who were being held by it, most of whom were killed by the Israeli occupation army’s bombing of various areas of the Gaza Strip since the start of the aggression in October 2023.
In the first week of last September, Al-Qassam also broadcast audio recordings of 6 Israeli prisoners whose bodies had been recovered by the occupation army at the beginning of the same month inside a tunnel in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, including Hersh Goldberg, who held American citizenship.
All the recordings held the Israeli government – led by Netanyahu and the security and military services – responsible for what happened on October 7, 2023, and all the prisoners demanded the necessity of expediting the conclusion of an exchange deal and the continuation of popular demonstrations demanding their return alive.
