The Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – announced that its fighters had targeted 14 Israeli tanks on the battlefield in the Gaza Strip. The resistance also destroyed gatherings of occupation forces, and announced the killing of at least 36 Israeli soldiers.
The occupation army acknowledged that its forces were waging fierce battles in the Shujaiya neighborhood in Gaza City and in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, and acknowledged that it had suffered heavy losses, while an Tel Aviv Tribune correspondent said that occupation helicopters were transporting wounded soldiers to Tel Aviv hospitals on an ongoing basis.
In the latest developments, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced the targeting of 5 Merkava tanks and 3 military bulldozers with Al-Yassin 105 shells in the Shuja’iya neighborhood in Gaza. The fighters also targeted 4 other Merkava tanks and a military bulldozer on Al-Jalaa Street in Gaza City with anti-armor shells.
The Al-Qassam Brigades broadcast scenes of it targeting an Israeli Merkava tank in the Tal al-Zaatar area in the northern Gaza Strip. It also announced that its fighters had targeted with Al-Yassin shells 105 two occupation tanks in the Mahatta area in Khan Yunis, and another east of the city of Khan Yunis and Rabaa north of Khan Yunis.
The Al-Qassam Brigades reported that an Israeli troop carrier was targeted with a Al-Yassin 105 shell, east of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.
The Al-Qassam Brigades announced that its fighters detonated a large bomb against dozens of occupation soldiers, killing and wounding them northeast of Khan Yunis. They also eliminated an entire Israeli force of 15 soldiers in the Al-Maarri area northeast of Khan Yunis, and they returned to their bases safely.
The Al-Qassam Brigades announced that its fighters targeted an Israeli special force stationed with two booby-trapped houses west of Jabalia, and killed 6 soldiers, including an officer. Al-Qassam also announced earlier that it had eliminated 13 Israeli soldiers from a zero distance in the Al-Faluga area in the northern Gaza Strip, a sniper in the same area, and a soldier from a zero distance west of the Jabalia camp.
Abu Ubaida, spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced in a new recorded audio speech that none of the Israeli prisoners or detainees in the Gaza Strip will be released except through the conditional exchange announced by the Palestinian resistance since the beginning of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle.
Abu Ubaida confirmed – in a recorded speech obtained by Tel Aviv Tribune – that neither Israel nor its supporters can take their prisoners alive without exchanging and abiding by the terms of the resistance and the Qassam.
Abu Ubaida said that the Al-Qassam Brigades destroyed 180 Israeli military vehicles, completely or partially, within 10 days, that is, since the end of the temporary humanitarian truce at the beginning of this December.
He pointed out that the Al-Qassam Brigades carried out a large number of specific operations, including attacking foot forces, sniping, and detonating mines. He touched on the Qassam Brigades bombing several areas in the Gaza Strip and Ashkelon with dozens of various missiles.
In light of these developments on the ground, Abu Ubaida confirmed that “the enemy failed in the north and south of the Gaza Strip, and will fail more as its aggression continues and moves to other areas of the Gaza Strip,” stressing that “the enemy is still receiving strikes, and what is coming is greater.”
Fierce battles
The Al-Qassam Brigades had said that its “jihadists” were waging fierce battles from zero distance with Israeli forces west of the Jabalia camp, and that they had caused an Israeli force to be killed or wounded. Al-Qassam announced that it had targeted an Israeli foot force with a “thunder personnel charge” east of the city of Khan Yunis, leaving it dead and wounded. The fighters also targeted an Israeli D-9 bulldozer with a “Shawaz” bomb, north of the city of Khan Yunis.
Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that the eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City were witnessing fierce clashes with heavy machine guns.
Journalist Anas Al-Sharif monitored for Al-Jazeera violent clashes between the resistance and the occupation forces trying to advance deep into the Jabalia camp.
Earlier, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced the targeting of 6 Israeli vehicles and a military bulldozer west of Jabalia, and confirmed that its members killed 10 Israeli soldiers from a zero distance in the Al-Faluga area, north of the Gaza Strip.
The brigades said that their resistance members booby-trapped and blew up a school in which dozens of occupation soldiers were holed up east of the Zaytoun neighborhood, leaving them dead and wounded.
It stated that its resistance destroyed an Israeli troop carrier with a strobe device, and set it on fire north of the city of Khan Yunis. They also repeatedly bombed gatherings of Israeli forces penetrating the axis north of the city of Khan Yunis with mortar shells.
A leadership source in the Al-Qassam Brigades said that the resistance fighters ambushed two Israeli special forces in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood and the Karama area. The vicinity of the Jabalia camp witnessed night clashes between resistance members and the Israeli occupation forces, and sounds of exchange of fire were heard in the area.
The Al-Qassam Brigades announced the bombing of Kibbutz Magin and the Ra’im military base with a missile salvo, and targeting the Israeli command rooms in the southern axis of Gaza City with heavy-caliber mortar shells.
Al-Qassam also bombed Israeli crowds at the Sufa military site with a missile salvo.
For its part, the Al-Quds Brigades – the military arm of the Islamic Jihad movement – reported that it bombed Israeli gatherings in the vicinity of the Cultural Center east of Khan Yunis with a barrage of mortar shells. The brigades announced the bombing of a gathering of Israeli military vehicles in the Netzarim axis with heavy-caliber mortar shells.
Occupation losses
For his part, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent in the Gaza Strip observed Israeli military helicopters transporting a number of injured Israeli soldiers as a result of the battles taking place in the Shuja’iya and Jabalia neighborhoods, east and north of Gaza City. The Tel Aviv Tribune correspondent also indicated that Israeli military rescue helicopters are transporting injured soldiers to Tel Aviv hospitals on an ongoing basis.
For its part, the Israeli occupation army announced that about 1,600 soldiers had been injured since Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, the condition of 255 of them critical, and about 670 wounded soldiers were transferred in the battles of Shujaiya and Jabalia.
The toll of new losses for the occupation army during the battles in Gaza more than two months ago included the killing of 426 soldiers and officers, including 102 soldiers who fell since the start of the ground war on October 26 last year. While at least 29 soldiers have been killed since the end of the temporary humanitarian truce at the beginning of this December.
As for the total number of wounded among the ranks of the occupation army, it reached 1,593, including 559 since the start of the ground operation in Gaza, with 127 of them seriously injured. The occupation army confirmed that 416 soldiers are undergoing treatment in hospitals, 40 of whom are in critical condition, and 211 are in moderate condition.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper had previously reported that 5,000 Israeli soldiers had been wounded since the beginning of the war, and explained that the Israeli Ministry of Defense had recognized 2,000 soldiers who had become disabled so far. The newspaper revealed that the Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of Defense receives 60 wounded daily, most of whom have serious injuries. It added that 12% of the army’s wounded suffered internal ruptures, and at least 100 of the wounded suffered blindness.
For its part, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted Israeli officials as saying that estimates indicate that the Israeli war on Gaza will continue for up to two more months.
