The tragedy of daily killing in the Gaza Strip has a hidden side, which has not been fully revealed. It is the record of thousands of missing persons who were buried under the rubble by the blind Israeli bombing over 9 months of the ongoing barbaric war on the Palestinian Strip.

Tel Aviv Tribune channel shed light on the file of missing persons in the Gaza Strip, displaying on the background of its screen pictures of missing persons under the rubble of thousands of buildings. The difficult attempts to retrieve them constituted a bitter and renewed tragedy due to weak capabilities and the recurrence of Israeli bombing on various areas of the Strip.

In addition to tens of thousands of martyrs and injured, the records are crowded with the names of thousands of whose families were unable to see their bodies, nor say goodbye to them, nor give them a proper burial, after the occupation planes and its plans decided to bury them with thousands of tons of missiles.

According to the latest estimate by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, preliminary numbers indicate that more than 10,000 people are missing under the rubble in Gaza.

The office quoted the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza as saying that they face enormous challenges in recovering bodies, in light of the lack of equipment, heavy machinery, and personnel.

Civil Defense also warned that operations to search for missing persons and recover bodies may take up to 3 years using the primitive tools available to them.

War crime

In the same context, Luigi Daniele, professor of international humanitarian law at Nottingham Trent University, stressed – in a statement to Tel Aviv Tribune – the need to consider the missing among the toll of victims of what he described as the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, in order to “understand the scale of the crime being committed.”

He added that the massive destruction of hospitals, health sector facilities and buildings that have no military justification is considered a war crime within the Rome Statute establishing the International Criminal Court, and these are the charges on the basis of which the ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan requested the issuance of arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Yoav. Gallant.

The professor of international humanitarian law said that the way the Israelis conduct military operations in Gaza through total destruction and indiscriminate killing are indicators of what he described as genocidal action, which has no military goal other than displacing the population of Gaza and depopulating the Strip.

On the other hand, he considered it very important for other countries to join South Africa in its lawsuit against Israel before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, because this confirms that accountability and accountability have begun to take its course, which will put pressure on Israel to stop its war. On the Palestinians.
