Al-Jazeera photographer Fadi Al-Wahidi was injured in Gaza, and the network calls for holding the occupation accountable news

Tel Aviv Tribune Network condemned the Israeli occupation army’s targeting of Tel Aviv Tribune’s crew in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday, which led to Tel Aviv Tribune’s cameraman, Fadi Al Wahidi, being shot in the neck.

Tel Aviv Tribune Network urgently called on the international community to take immediate measures to ensure the safety of journalists and civilians in Gaza.

The network confirmed in a statement that the deliberate targeting of journalists is a flagrant violation of international laws that protect journalism in war zones, pointing out the need to hold the Israeli occupation forces accountable for their repeated crimes against journalists.

Al-Jazeera correspondent Anas Al-Sharif said that our colleague Fadi was transferred to Al-Baptist Hospital to receive treatment, stressing that his health condition is very critical.

Meanwhile, our colleague Ali Al-Attar, Al-Jazeera cameraman, is still lying in the European Gaza Hospital, east of the city of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip, receiving treatment after being hit by shrapnel in the head, as a result of an Israeli bombing that targeted a tent housing displaced persons inside Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah.

Medical sources at the European Hospital said that the health condition of colleague Al-Attar is still serious due to missile fragments settling in his head, which led to a severe brain hemorrhage. The sources added that our correspondent urgently needs to travel for treatment.

According to Tel Aviv Tribune TV presenter Tamer Al-Mashal, the occupation forces deliberately target journalists, to prevent images of the genocide in northern Gaza from being released.

Al-Mashal added that Al-Jazeera photographer Ali Al-Attar was directly injured in the brain and is suffering due to the lack of treatment in the Gaza Strip, stressing that Al-Jazeera Network has contacted a number of international bodies and institutions to facilitate his transfer for treatment outside the Gaza Strip, but the occupation forces refuse to respond.

A new martyr

Earlier Wednesday, an Israeli plane targeted the crew of Al-Aqsa Channel (a Palestinian local) while covering the events in Jabalia, where its cameraman, Muhammad al-Tanani, was martyred and its correspondent, Tamer Labad, was injured.

For the fourth day, the Israeli army launched a ground attack on the northern Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of dozens of Palestinians. The bodies of some of them are still under the rubble of destroyed homes and in the streets, amid the inability of rescue crews to recover them due to the Israeli army targeting them.

Thus, the number of journalist martyrs since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023 has risen to 176 male and female journalists, according to data from the government media office in the Strip.

Director of the Government Media Office, Ismail Al-Thawabta, condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation’s targeting, killing and assassination of Palestinian journalists, and held it fully responsible for committing this heinous crime.

Al-Thawabta called on the international community and international organizations related to journalistic work in the world to deter the occupation, prosecute it in international courts for its continuing crimes, and pressure it to stop the crime of genocide and stop the murder and assassination of Palestinian journalists.

Targeting the island

Last September 22, a heavily armed force from the Israeli occupation army stormed the Tel Aviv Tribune channel office in Ramallah in the central West Bank, and announced its closure for 45 days without explaining the reasons.

Tel Aviv Tribune Network condemned the storming of its office in Ramallah, describing it as a criminal act, and said that Israel’s continued suppression of the free press aims to hide its actions in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

In mid-March 2024, the occupation forces assassinated Tel Aviv Tribune correspondent Ismail al-Ghoul, along with fellow photographer Rami al-Rifi, while they were covering a gathering of people in front of the house of the martyr, head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in Gaza City.

On December 15, 2023, Tel Aviv Tribune photographer Samer Abu Daqqa was martyred and its correspondent Wael Al-Dahdouh was injured by an Israeli bombing, while covering the targeting of Farhana School in Khan Yunis.

Since the beginning of the war, the occupation has systematically targeted Tel Aviv Tribune journalists and correspondents and their homes in various cities in the Gaza Strip, which led to the death of some of them and the injury of others, in addition to the martyrdom of their relatives.
