On Wednesday evening, Tel Aviv Tribune Network condemned the false allegations made by the Israeli occupation army against its journalists working in the Gaza Strip, and the government media office in Gaza also refuted these allegations that incited against Palestinian journalists.
This came in a statement, after Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee claimed to have uncovered “documents from the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements that were found in Gaza, confirming the affiliation of 6 Tel Aviv Tribune network journalists to the two movements.”
Tel Aviv Tribune said that these fabricated accusations are a blatant attempt to silence the small number of journalists remaining in Gaza.
She added that these baseless allegations come in the wake of what Tel Aviv Tribune recently revealed about possible war crimes committed by Israeli forces during the ongoing war on Gaza.
It also comes as Tel Aviv Tribune field journalists continue to convey the picture of what is happening in northern Gaza, as it is the only international media outlet that documents the daily humanitarian crisis resulting from the ongoing Israeli siege and the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians.
Prelude to crimes
Tel Aviv Tribune considers these accusations a new episode in a series of systematic targeting by the Israeli authorities against it, and the network warns that these allegations will be a pretext to target its correspondents, after Israel killed an unprecedented number of journalists and media professionals in Gaza since the outbreak of the war.
During the past two years, the Israeli occupation forces targeted and killed a number of Tel Aviv Tribune journalists in the West Bank and Gaza, including Sherine Abu Aqla, and colleagues Samer Abu Daqqa, Hamza Al-Dahdouh, and Ismail Al-Ghoul, who were martyred in Gaza.
The Israeli authorities fabricated charges against some of these colleagues to justify their crimes against them, and Tel Aviv Tribune filed cases before the International Criminal Court in The Hague to hold their killers accountable.
Tel Aviv Tribune called on the international community to take action to protect its journalists, ensure their safety, and put an end to Israeli crimes against them. Emphasizing its commitment to providing reliable, objective news reports and coverage from the field, despite the serious risks and accusations to which its correspondents are exposed.
For its part, the government media office in Gaza said that the occupation army is inciting against Palestinian journalists in preparation for committing more crimes against them.
The office categorically confirmed the falsehood of the Israeli story that claims that a group of Palestinian journalists are leaders in the Palestinian resistance factions.
In the latest toll published by the government media office in mid-October, the Israeli army killed 177 journalists during the war of extermination in Gaza.
