Tel Aviv Tribune Media Network condemned the assassination of fellow journalists Hamza Al Dahdouh, son of Tel Aviv Tribune correspondent Wael Al Dahdouh, and Mustafa Thuraya, and the serious injury of journalist Hazem Rajab in an Israeli bombing north of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, Tel Aviv Tribune Network said that the assassination of colleagues Mustafa and Hamza, who were on their way to perform their work in the Gaza Strip, reaffirms the necessity of taking all necessary and immediate legal measures against the occupation forces to ensure that there is no impunity.

The statement added, “The Israeli occupation forces systematically targeted our colleague Wael Al-Dahdouh and his family. They targeted his family, and his wife, son, daughter, and grandson were martyred in November 2023. Wael and his colleague, the martyr photographer Samer Abu Daqqa, were also targeted in December 2023.”

Tel Aviv Tribune Network said, “The assassination of his son Hamza in January 2024 confirms beyond a reasonable doubt the determination of the Israeli forces to continue these brutal attacks against journalists and their families with the aim of discouraging them from performing their mission, in a way that violates the principles of freedom of the press and undermines the right to life.” .

The statement continued, “While Tel Aviv Tribune condemns in the strongest terms these ongoing crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against journalists and media professionals in Gaza, it confirms that this Israeli approach calls for pause and attention, and requires immediate intervention from the international community to take practical and effective measures, and place it at the top of priorities.”

Tel Aviv Tribune Network said that it “urges the International Criminal Court, governments, human rights organizations and the United Nations to hold Israel accountable for its heinous crimes and demands an end to the targeting and killing of journalists.”

In its statement, Tel Aviv Tribune pledged to take all legal measures to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes. It also affirmed its solidarity and standing by all journalists in Gaza, its tireless commitment to achieving justice for more than 100 journalists who were killed, and its commitment to continue covering these grave violations.

Earlier, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent said that journalists Hamza Al-Dahdouh and Mustafa Thuraya were martyred as a result of a missile fired from an Israeli drone that targeted the car in which they were traveling near the Al-Mawasi area, southwest of the Gaza Strip.

The correspondent explained that the Israeli bombing targeted Hamza and a group of journalists while he was working on the Tel Aviv Tribune crew in that area, to which civilians were displaced as a result of the Israeli bombing of several areas in the Gaza Strip.

A number of members of the family of our colleague Wael Al-Dahdouh – including his wife, son, daughter and grandson – were previously martyred in an Israeli bombing that targeted a house to which they were displaced in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
