Despite the great security restrictions and siege imposed by the Israeli occupation army on the areas of the northern West Bank, the Palestinian resistance there carries out operations such as direct clashes with the occupation forces and the destruction of bulldozers, as confirmed by military and strategic expert Colonel Hatem Al-Falahi.
This came in the context of Colonel Al-Falahi’s comment on the scenes broadcast by Al-Jazeera Channel today, Saturday, of the fighters of the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement – blowing up an Israeli military vehicle with an explosive device in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, and of armed clashes between the Brigades’ members and the occupation soldiers in the northern West Bank.
During this period, the Palestinian resistance factions in the West Bank engaged in clashes with the Israeli forces that had penetrated the northern West Bank. Colonel Al-Falahi said that these operations were kept secret, noting that the occupation had tightened its control over the entrances and exits of the northern West Bank, and was using drones to bomb specific targets, and was carrying out raids and destroying infrastructure.
He said that the picture was not fully conveyed regarding the operations carried out by the resistance against the occupation forces, especially in the areas that the occupation army had designated as targets for its military operations, where it had besieged them, prevented entry and exit from them, and evacuated some homes.
Colonel Al-Falahi focused on the strategy followed by the occupation army in the West Bank, where it carried out several arbitrary security measures, including control of Palestinian lands, arrests, security restrictions, and the distribution of weapons to settlers, which are measures that put pressure on the residents of the West Bank. He said that what the occupation is doing is directed at the local residents and not at the resistance factions.
The occupation forces had launched a large-scale operation in the northern West Bank under the pretext of dismantling resistance cells, and since then, resistance fighters have been confronting them with explosive devices and bullets, killing and wounding a number of its soldiers.
Regarding the sources of weapons in the possession of the resistance in the West Bank, Colonel Al-Falahi points to the Israelis’ claims that there are factories for manufacturing explosive devices, in addition to their claims that there are weapons smuggling operations taking place from Jordan towards the West Bank, and from the Gaza Strip towards the West Bank. These are claims that aim to justify their aggression and military operations.
He pointed out that the occupation relies on two strategies, the first of which is specific to the army, the internal security service (Shabak) and the special forces, and works to prevent resistance in the West Bank areas, and the decisive strategy adopted by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, which calls for controlling Palestinian lands in the West Bank, and therefore approximately 200,000 weapons were distributed in these areas.
