The military and strategic expert, Colonel Hatem Karim Al-Falahi, said that the statements of the Israeli occupation army spokesman, Daniel Hagari, about the difficulty of eliminating the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) are like coming down from the tree.

During his analysis of the military scene in Gaza, Al-Falahi pointed out that the gap has become very large between the military and political leaders, adding that the Israeli army sets goals that are different from the goals of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, which demands the removal of Hamas’ military and governmental capabilities, and the killing of its leaders, in addition to the recovery of Israeli prisoners in Gaza via Military pressure.

According to the strategic expert, the Israeli army’s acknowledgment that Hamas cannot be eliminated unless an alternative is provided in the Gaza Strip, and that the prisoners cannot be recovered by military means, “is a major retreat and a fall from the tree on the issue of the goals that were set for the war.”

He stressed that Hagari did not speak in his interview with the Israeli Channel 13 personally, but rather with the language, voice and direction of the army in Gaza, pointing out that he is pushing a broad trend of civilians to support the military vision of the army.

He points out that the Israeli army is planning to go into a new phase in the Gaza Strip based on intelligence information based on less intensive and more focused operations, wondering at the same time how the war objectives will be achieved in this phase after failing to achieve them during the extensive ground maneuvers.

The military expert believes that the Israeli army refuses to be thrown into a holocaust and exhaustion, especially since the challenges are great on the northern front and the West Bank front, and it is not possible to confront all of these challenges at the same time.

He believes that Hagari’s statements are a message to the political side that it is necessary to set logical goals within the army’s capabilities, including stopping the fighting, recovering prisoners, and comprehensive reorganization.

Al-Falahi describes Israel’s strategic situation as very bad, as the United Nations has blacklisted the Israeli army for violating children’s rights.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Hagari said that talk about destroying Hamas was ashes of dust in the eyes of the Israelis, stressing that the movement is an idea implanted in the hearts of the people, and it cannot be eliminated.

In turn, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quick to respond to Hagari’s statements, and said – in a statement – that “the security cabinet has identified the destruction of Hamas’ military and governmental capabilities as one of the goals of the war, and the IDF is committed to that.”

After that, an Israeli military spokesman said that the army is committed to achieving the war goals set by the government and has been working on that since the beginning of the war, noting that Hagari addressed the destruction of Hamas as an idea and his statements are clear, “and every other claim is taking it out of context.”
