Military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, cast doubt on the Israeli occupation army’s statements regarding its dismantling of the capabilities of the Palestinian resistance – especially the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – in the governorates of the Gaza Strip, and said that they were proven to be inaccurate.
The occupation army announced the dismantling of the Rafah Brigade of the Qassam Brigades after more than 4 months of the Israeli military operation that began on May 6, claiming that “more than 2,000 Hamas members were killed and nearly 13 kilometers of tunnels were destroyed.”
While pointing out that the occupation army has inflicted sometimes painful blows on the resistance factions, Major General Al-Duwairi confirmed – in an analysis of the military scene in Gaza – that the resistance was able to rebuild its strength through recruitment and rehabilitating the forces, whether by reproducing shells, mortars, short-range missiles and ammunition.
He pointed to the process of recycling unexploded missiles, as reports confirm that 20% of the explosives dropped by Israel on the Gaza Strip – which number more than 90 thousand tons – did not explode.
The Palestinian resistance factions use the unexploded missiles in two ways, Al-Duwairi added: Either by directly using them by placing charges on them and detonating them in the tanks of the occupation army, or by using explosives in the charges and in the projectiles, or by remelting the outer casing and recycling it.
On the other hand, Major General Al-Duwairi doubted the Israeli Army Radio’s announcement that more than 14,000 buildings were booby-trapped in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, alone, and said that this number was exaggerated, because a very large number of buildings were destroyed in this city.
He considered that the booby-trapping of buildings by resistance fighters comes based on a field study, stressing that most of the operations are effective and painful for the occupation army.
Yesterday, Tuesday, the Al-Qassam Brigades blew up a building in Rafah in which an Israeli force was stationed, using a highly explosive device, which led to the immediate death of 4 soldiers – including a female military doctor – as the Israeli occupation army acknowledged.
