Military expert Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi suggested that Hezbollah bombed an Israeli naval base northwest of Haifa with ballistic missiles or Yakhont missiles after the party was satisfied with describing them as “specific missiles.”
Al-Duwairi said – during his analysis of the military scene in the region – that the naval base that Hezbollah announced its bombing on Monday includes advanced Israeli military battleships such as “Sa’ar 5” and “Sa’ar 6.”
Today, Monday, Hezbollah announced the launch of a qualitative missile salvo at the Stella Maris naval base, northwest of Haifa.
The military expert stated that Hezbollah did not specify the type of missiles, pointing out that bombing the naval base with Yakhont missiles – if confirmed – would mean targeting the contents of the base, including military battleships and others.
The Yakhont missile is one of the most advanced anti-ship missiles in the world. It is designed to fly above the surface of the sea to avoid detection, and its speed reaches twice the speed of sound, which makes it difficult to intercept.
Al-Duwairi believes that all military installations, naval and air bases, and factories “should be Hezbollah’s top priorities for targeting,” noting that they “represent the main nerve in the war on Lebanon.”
According to the military expert, Hezbollah is focusing its bombing of Israeli targets on the Haifa and Acre regions in the northern third of occupied Palestine “because they represent a strategic center of gravity in the economic and tourism dimensions, and are full of strategic targets.”
Developments in northern Gaza
In the south, Israeli Army Radio announced the withdrawal of the 460th Brigade from Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip, while the 401st Brigade and the Givati Brigade continue to operate.
In this context, Al-Duwairi said that the Israeli army did not announce the reason for the withdrawal, but it revealed that historically the withdrawal of the brigades from Gaza was due to human losses.
The military expert adds that there is another reason behind the withdrawal of this brigade, which is “its failure to accomplish the non-military mission entrusted to it to evacuate and forcibly displace residents from the northern Gaza Strip.”
Accordingly, Al-Duwairi believes that the “generals’ plan,” which stipulates besieging the residents of northern Gaza, forcibly displacing them, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, and imposing a closed military zone, “is beginning to fail.”
The military expert stated that the 460th Brigade was operating in the western region of Jabalia, while the 401st Brigade was operating in the eastern region, pointing out that the remaining force was divided between an armored force and an infantry force.
He reiterated his emphasis on the guerrilla warfare approach adopted by the resistance in Gaza, using explosive devices and anti-tank missiles against Israeli forces and vehicles.
Since October 6, the Israeli army has begun a new military operation in the northern Gaza Strip governorate, the most violent since the beginning of the current war, and imposed its siege on the Jabalia area.
