Military and strategic expert Fayez Al-Duwairi pointed out that the Israeli military operation in the West Bank has reached, and what the Palestinian resistance has done over the past two days, will accelerate the response operations inside Israel.
Al-Duwairi explained, during the military analysis segment, that the Israeli aggression expanded on the fourth day to include new governorates, after it was limited in the first days to three main camps: Jenin, Nour Shams in Tulkarm, before extending yesterday to Hebron, indicating that there was a dramatic shift in the path of the resistance.
He pointed out the historical importance of the city of Jenin and its camp in the resistance work since the days of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam, and its prominent role in steadfastness in the face of Israeli invasions, noting that the qualitative operations against the occupation were launched from there, such as targeting the occupation’s vehicles and snipers.
The expert linked the current Israeli escalation to the warnings issued by the occupation army two weeks ago about conducting an operational maneuver in the northern West Bank similar to what happened in Gaza, stressing that Tel Aviv wanted to launch a preemptive strike against the escalating resistance in that region.
He stressed that the different geography of the West Bank plays in the interest of the resistance, despite the fact that it does not have strategic tunnels like in Gaza, citing the large area and diverse terrain of plains, mountains and forests, which constitute about 17% of the area of historical Palestine.
Weapon insurance
However, the military expert acknowledged that there are major challenges facing the resistance in terms of securing weapons, in light of the closed borders and the difficulty of bringing in machine guns and explosives, despite previous reports of weapons shipments arriving across the Jordanian border.
According to Al-Duwairi, the Israeli military strategy followed in the West Bank so far is ineffective, although the approaches to destruction and displacement are similar to what happened in the Gaza Strip, although some details differ.
But if this strategy aims to eliminate the resistance, then things are different, because the West Bank has very large cities, while the occupation was wiping out entire residential blocks in Gaza.
He pointed out that settlement expansion, injustice and land confiscation must be confronted with resistance action that Israel will not be able to eliminate, no matter what means it uses.
Speaking about the time frame for the resistance’s work, the military expert called for expanding the scope of work, because the path – in his opinion – is long and difficult. He also noted the importance of forming armed popular committees to defend the lives of Palestinians in the face of the settlers, along with the importance of the resistance carrying out a third intifada.
