The military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, praised the videos of the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – in documenting the course and developments of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle, expressing his admiration for the resistance videos, and their great impact on the Israeli interior.
Al-Duwairi stressed – during his analysis for Tel Aviv Tribune – that the image is part of the battle because it conveys the facts and delivers messages expressing the truth of what is happening, wondering how to know what is happening “unless we watch these films and videos.”
He added – speaking about the importance of the image – “How can we see the horror of what happened in terms of systematic Israeli destruction, forced displacement, and humiliation of civilians?” He pointed out that the street in the West was moved by these videos in light of the information revolution and bypassing the censor’s scissors.
As for the tunnel network and the occupation’s talk about its destruction, the strategic expert recalled the recent speech of Al-Qassam spokesman Abu Ubaida, in which he mocked the Israeli army’s claims about the destruction of the resistance’s capabilities and tunnels.
He pointed out that the occupation’s arrogance and sense of superiority “blinded him, which is what allowed the October 7 attack to happen.”
Al-Duwairi acknowledged that the occupation discovered and destroyed some tunnels, but the question that remains puzzling revolves around what the network is and how it is designed, does it lead to each other, and are the manufacturing tunnels connected to the network of offensive or defensive tunnels, again describing it as “an unresolved black box.”
Al-Duwairi enumerated the types of resistance tunnels in Gaza, including defensive and offensive ones, as well as tunnels built for the purposes of meetings, manufacturing, and sleeping places.
He reviewed the occupation’s various attempts to deal with it, such as drowning and the use of robots and trained dogs, stressing that the specialized Yahalom unit in the Israeli army suffered from resistance traps, especially tunnel openings. It suffered heavy human losses.
He pointed out that some reports talked about the presence of tunnels in Gaza with three layers and a depth of more than 80 meters, while the maximum effect of depth bombs and concussion bombs ranges between 15 and 25 meters only.
