The military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, said that 24 Israeli military brigades are active in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings, including 5 in the Jabalia camp in the north and the same in Rafah in the south, stressing that the number is very large.

During his analysis of the military scene in Gaza, Al-Duwairi pointed out that the composition of the Israeli military divisions varies between 3 and 5 brigades, adding that they were unable to fulfill their assigned duties after they were exhausted due to losses. The number of vehicles destroyed since the beginning of the war reached approximately 1,500 vehicles.

Commenting on the occupation’s statements that it entered the center of Rafah, the military expert stressed the need to differentiate between entering an area with armored vehicles and controlling it. He cited the border town of Beit Hanoun in the north after Israel entered it 7 months ago and fighting is still present there.

Regarding the return of these brigades to areas from which they had left, he said that they had previously failed to dismantle the resistance brigades, led by the military wings of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Islamic Jihad, and it was proven that their combat performance in the past weeks exceeded their performance in the first week of the Israeli ground invasion.

This is due to more than one positive factor – according to Al-Duwairi – such as the activation of the joint operations room, and the fundamental change that occurred in the management of the defensive battle from “repulsing and preventing” to “allowing entry and luring into ambushes.”

At the conclusion of his analysis, he concluded that the Jabalia camp was “difficult to storm because it is a defensive fortress,” while stressing that the occupation seeks to expand the circle of fighting in Rafah.
