Israel and Hamas signed a ceasefire agreement that provides for the release of Israeli captives in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians held by Israel. Future phases will focus on an Israeli withdrawal as well as the governance and reconstruction of the decimated Gaza Strip.
Former U.S. National Security Council official Charles Dunne told host Steve Clemons that with so many moving parts, it’s difficult to predict how far the deal will go.
But at the same time, Dunne argues, US President Donald Trump is motivated to close the chapter on the Palestinian-Israeli issue and focus on a peace deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
