A Palestinian child was injured during the Israeli occupation army’s storming of the city of Nablus, as the occupation forces continued their raids into a number of cities and villages in the West Bank, hours after settlers stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that its crews dealt with the injury of a 15-year-old child with live bullets in the hand, during clashes in the Ras al-Ain neighborhood in Nablus.

For its part, the Nablus Brigade affiliated with the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement – said that its fighters were confronting the occupation forces in the Ras al-Ain axis, and showering them with bullets.

Later, the occupation forces withdrew from Nablus after two military vehicles stormed several areas in the southern mountain of the city.

The two vehicles roamed several streets and neighborhoods, without any raids or arrests, while confrontations occurred during the army’s withdrawal, leading to two injuries.

A short while ago, the occupation forces stormed the town of Al-Ram, north of Jerusalem.

In this context, a number of settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles at the northern entrance to the city of Al-Bireh, east of Ramallah. A number of settlers had gathered for the second day at the northern entrance to the city under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces.

They also attacked with stones the vehicles of Palestinians traveling on the main road linking the central and northern West Bank. Their attacks resulted in the shattering of the windows of some vehicles and material damage to others, with no human casualties so far.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of a Palestinian as a result of wounds he sustained during the occupation forces’ storming of the city of Ramallah about a week ago, bringing the number of martyrs killed by occupation soldiers and settlers in the West Bank to 553 since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip.

Demolition of houses in Jericho

On the other hand, the Israeli army demolished – on Sunday – 5 Palestinian homes, northeast of the city of Jericho, east of the occupied West Bank, 3 of which were inhabited, under the pretext of the lack of building permits.

Anadolu Agency quoted an eyewitness as saying that the occupation army demolished, in the village of Dweik, northeast of Jericho, an inhabited house owned by a citizen of the village and inhabited by 7 individuals, and two ready-to-occupy houses owned by two citizens of the city of Jerusalem.

He stated that the Israeli occupation forces used the excuse of building houses without a permit in Area C.

Later, the official Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) said that a second demolition operation targeted two houses southwest of the city.

She added that the occupation forces demolished the homes of citizens Abdullah Ahmed Nujoom and Muhammad Eid Nujoom, after forcing their owners to evacuate them in the Al-Mufilatat area, under the pretext of building in Area C.

According to a monthly report by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the occupation army carried out 47 demolition operations, affecting 66 facilities in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, during last May.

The Israeli army imposes control on Palestinian construction operations, and prevents Palestinians from building in Area C.

On the other hand, the number of Palestinian detainees in the West Bank has risen to 9,345 since the Israeli army expanded its operations in the West Bank coinciding with the start of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs Authority and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said – in a joint statement on Sunday – that the Israeli occupation forces arrested at least 20 citizens from the West Bank from yesterday evening, Saturday, until this morning, including children, a high school student, in addition to former prisoners.

They pointed out that the arrest operations were concentrated in the Hebron Governorate, then the governorates of Nablus, Qalqilya, Tubas, Ramallah, and Jericho, and were accompanied by widespread hazing operations, severe beatings, and threats against detainees and their families, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes.

Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that the occupation forces arrested 3 children from the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, and also stormed the towns of Dura, Yatta and Al-Samu’, and arrested 4 Palestinians. Another Palestinian was also arrested from the town of Bani Naim, east of Hebron.

The arrests included two young Palestinians from the Khallet al-Rai area and Shreim neighborhood, in the city of Qalqilya, and two other young men during the storming of the town of Sinjil, north of the city of Ramallah.

This comes as the official Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that the Israeli army and the Shin Bet (General Security Service) were forced to cancel about 20 arrest operations in the West Bank planned for this week, due to a lack of space in prisons.

She added that in light of the increasing distress in places of detention, security services are forced to conduct assessments of the situation regarding the danger of prisoners.

Security officials in Israel warn that the lack of space in detention centers and prisons will lead to the cancellation of more arrests and countermeasures in the West Bank, according to the Broadcasting Corporation.

On a daily basis, the Israeli army storms cities and towns in the West Bank to arrest those it calls wanted persons. It usually assaults Palestinians and destroys public and private property, as part of an escalation phase supervised by the army and settlers since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7 last.

In conjunction with the war, the Israeli army expanded its operation in the West Bank, leaving 553 martyrs, including 133 children, in addition to about 5,300 wounded, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, and about 9,345 detainees, according to institutions specialized in prisoner affairs.
