The Argentine Boca Juniors said – yesterday, Friday – that his defender, Irton Costa, will participate in the U.S. Football World Cup in the United States after American immigration officials retracted their previous decision to refuse his request to obtain a visa to enter the country.

“Ariston Costa has a special visa for 26 days,” a club spokesman told Reuters.

Costa’s request to obtain a criminal complaints visas in his country, Argentina, related to strict the 2018, which he avoided trial by accepting a ruling with the suspension of execution in 2023.

And US officials earlier issued a ruling not to allow him to enter the country because he is still serving his punishment.

The press office at the American embassy in Argentina told Reuters that they could not discuss individual visa requests.

Boca Juniors, who is participating in the third group, will open his career in Miami next Monday with the Portuguese Benfica.

The group also includes the New Zealand and Bayern Munich teams.
