The city of Al -Nahoud

In recent days, the Rapid Support Forces in the south have advanced and announced – Friday – to tighten their control over the city of Al -Nahoud, West Kordofan, in the south of the country.

The city of Al -Nahoud was under the control of the army, and since July 2024 has been transformed into the temporary administrative capital of West Kordofan, after its original capital, Al -Foula, fell in the hands of rapid support.

Al -Nahoud is a transit point used by the army to send forces to Darfur in western Sudan, the historical stronghold of the Rapid Support Forces.

The rapid support yesterday targeted the airport of the city of Kassala, which is in eastern Sudan, on the border with Eritrea, and far from its locations, according to a government source.

The government source said that “a march targeting the fuel tank area at Kassala Airport” at a distance of about 450 kilometers east of Khartoum, without indicating casualties or damages.

Rapid support resumed its attack on Sudanese army sites after losing many areas for the army in several states, especially in the capital, Khartoum, in which the regular forces regained important headquarters such as the presidential palace, government ministries, airport, and security and military headquarters.

In all of Sudan, rapid support is only controlled by parts of the states of North Kordofan and West Kordofan, and limited pockets in the states of South Kordofan and the Blue Nile, along with 4 of the five states of the Darfur region.

Since mid -April 2023, the Sudanese army has been fighting more than 20,000 dead and about 15 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations and the local authorities, while a search for American universities estimated the number of deaths of about 130,000.
