Al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Ubaida welcomed on Friday what he described as a “specific operation” carried out by the “Iraqi Islamic Resistance” in the occupied Golan a few days ago, and the Israeli army announced today that it left two Israeli soldiers dead and 24 others wounded.
Abu Ubaida said in a statement: “We congratulate the specific operation of the Iraqi Islamic resistance that left the occupation forces dead and wounded in the Golan.”
He added: “We salute our brothers in the Iraqi Islamic Resistance for supporting our Palestinian people in the face of the Zionist aggression.”
The Israeli army announced earlier today that two of its soldiers were killed and more than 20 others were injured as a result of the explosion of a drone launched from Iraq at a base for its forces north of the occupied Syrian Golan at dawn last Wednesday.
Israeli Army Radio said that it was the first time since the beginning of the war that Iraqi factions’ operations had succeeded in causing deaths and injuries.
An army spokesman said that 24 soldiers were injured in the attack, two of whom were in serious condition, and the Israeli army allowed the publication of the name and photo of both killed soldiers, who were from the 13th battalion of the Golani Brigade.
Israeli Army Radio reported that the initial investigation into the attack showed that two explosive drones were launched from Iraq and crossed into the Golan region, and one of them was intercepted, but the air defense systems failed to detect the other drone that exploded at the base located north of the Golan.
The Israeli recognition came after the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” announced the day before yesterday, Wednesday, that it had attacked three targets with drones in three separate operations north of the occupied territories during the dawn hours.
