About a thousand health workers have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Strip on October 7, and the occupation forces have arrested hundreds of others, according to the Palestinian Minister of Health, Majed Abu Ramadan.
Abu Ramadan condemned, in statements distributed by his office on Saturday evening, the killing of 5 ministry employees in an Israeli bombing of its warehouses in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
He said that Palestine has lost more than 990 health workers since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, including doctors, specialists, nurses, support medical professionals, administrators and paramedics.
He also explained that the occupation forces also arrested more than 300 staff, while many hospitals were destroyed and put out of service, while the Israeli bombing caused 130 ambulances to stop working, in addition to hundreds of violations against the entire health system in the West Bank.
He added, “The deliberate targeting is added to the series of crimes and violence practiced by the occupation against health workers in various specialties, as well as treatment centers and ambulances.”
The Palestinian Minister condemned Israel’s continued targeting of humanitarian health workers, stressing that “the occupation is ignoring all international and humanitarian laws.”
He called on the international community and international humanitarian and health organizations to increase pressure on the occupation authorities to stop the aggression immediately, open the crossings to allow the entry of various forms of health support, and also allow the exit of hundreds of patients and wounded who suffer from critical health conditions.
Since the beginning of the war on the Strip, the Israeli army has targeted Gaza’s hospitals and health system, putting most of them out of service, endangering the lives of doctors, workers, patients and the wounded, according to Palestinian and international data.
According to the latest figures from the government media office in Gaza, 986 medical personnel from the Ministry of Health were killed as a result of the war on the Strip.
With full American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war in Gaza since October 7, leaving more than 137,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amidst massive destruction and deadly famine.
In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
