Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said today, Sunday, in a speech on the occasion of the “59th anniversary of the launch of the Palestinian revolution,” that the Palestinian people are subjected to a “total war of extermination,” and called for holding an international peace conference leading to a Palestinian state.
Abbas added, in his speech published by the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa), that the Palestinian people “are subjected today to a comprehensive war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Jerusalem, with the aim of liquidating our national cause and turning it into a humanitarian cause, in a repetition of the 1948 Nakba.”
He added: “But we say to them (the Israelis), the more your aggression and terrorism increase, the stronger, more determined and determined our people will become in adhering to their land and their legitimate national rights.”
He stressed that “the Palestinian people will remain steadfast and adhere to their legitimate rights, and we will not accept displacement from our land, whatever the cost, under the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of our Palestinian people.”
The Palestinian President stressed that the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip are “one indivisible geographical unit.”
He called for “the need to immediately stop the Israeli aggression, which aims to annihilate the Palestinian people, and to accelerate the entry of humanitarian aid to our people into the Gaza Strip.”
He added, “We will not allow displacement, whether from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, which is witnessing a frenzied war by the occupation army and terrorist settlers.”
He said that Israel’s plan “to eliminate the Palestinian national project, Jerusalem and its sanctities, and divide and steal the land will not pass. The Gaza Strip is part of the occupied Palestinian territory, of which we will not give up a single inch, and we will not abandon our responsibilities towards Gaza.”
Regarding the options presented, Abbas said, “The only solution is to recognize the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and independence, and move toward a political solution based on international legitimacy resolutions, by holding an international peace conference that ends the Israeli occupation of all lands of the State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the return of refugees in accordance with Resolution 194.” .
While the administration of US President Joe Biden wants the Palestinian Authority to bear responsibility in Gaza after the war, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejects this option, and wants to maintain security control over the Strip.
Since the seventh of last October, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that has left, to date, 21,822 martyrs, 56,451 wounded, most of them children and women, massive destruction of infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to what the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced. In Gaza today.
In the West Bank, data from the Ministry of Health in Ramallah indicate that 527 Palestinians were martyred, about 3,800 were injured, and 4,876 were arrested, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club.
