The “worker” festival in the town of Kfarman, Nabatiyeh district, has a different taste this year, as it comes after a harsh Israeli war on Lebanon, as the town won a large share of Israeli attacks, and the raids destroyed several residential buildings, and a number of dead and wounded fell.
The scouts of national education – the organizing authority of this festival – chose the name “Amel” for two things, the first is a tribute to workers on their feast, and the second is a premise of Jabal Amel, which is the southern region of Lebanon.
Market with various stalls
The festival is a popular and heritage market held at the Kfarman Public School Stadium, where it included various kiosks, which provided heritage food, as well as locally made products and everything related to the culture and history of Lebanon and southern Lebanon.
Elian Al -Azza stood inside its prestige for selling pottery pots, Lebanon was famous for making pottery a long time ago, but it retreated due to mineral industries, and through this kiosk, Elian sells various pottery utensils, and she indicates – in her talk to Tel Aviv Tribune Net – that cooking with pottery is more healthy than cooking with metal utensils, explaining that the width of pottery manufactures aims to encourage people to return to its use in order to preserve them Their health.
On the festival, Elian Al -Azza says:
“We loved to change the usual traditional activity that supports workers every year, and we decided to organize a beautiful event in which we draw a smile on the faces of everyone, including children, and to improve the mood of people after the war, and for this we have chosen the popular and heritage market that was very well received by people.”
Nour Ghazal specialized in home chocolate industry, she came with her products to the market, and she talks to Tel Aviv Tribune Net about her work saying, “I do everything at home, from the Belgian sugar -free chocolate industry, to preparing tiramisu, cheesecake cake and lii cake, and all kinds of sweets for occasions and weddings.”
Ghazal’s participation in this festival is not only for direct financial profit, but also to promote their products and introduce people to the nature of these products by communicating with new segments of society that are attended to the market, as she put it.
In turn, Farah Hassouna works in the field of video works from bracelets and decorations, noting this festival and with the participation of the great people in it, and assures Al -Jazeera Net that people need this area of joy after all the pressures they went through during the past two years.
The joys of Abu Zaid own a store to sell handicraft supplies and she came to the market to display these supplies and get to know people on her trade, and she indicates in her interview with Tel Aviv Tribune Net that the festival is distinguished, especially as it carries all the greetings to workers who are distressed and tired to continue this difficult life, and Afrah indicates that the importance of this activity is to restore life to the region after the harsh war, and after the difficult economic conditions that preceded it, and says “Our love for Farrman, the south and our steadfastness is what prompted us to continue, and today we restore life to it again despite everything that happened.”
Fatima Samadi stands next to her daughter who bakes “Al -Manaqish” on the Al -Saaj oven, and she talks to Al -Jazeera Net about Al -Saaj, which was associated with the history of the region, where he was present in every house, and the housewife was baking daily bread and Al -Makish, but its use began to recede with the development that occurred in life, and stresses the need to return to the roots and adhere to the land, homes and traditional life.
Visitors from inside and outside the town
Large crowds from the town and abroad have attended from the first moments of the opening of the market and from all age groups, and among the activities of the popular and heritage market is a special pavilion for children, where they drew, played and sang under the supervision of the organizers.
Ali Shashau from the town of Kfarman attended with his family to see the activities, and emphasizes its necessity in alleviating all members of society who suffered what they suffered during the war. During his talk to Al -Jazeera Net, Shashawah stresses that all the activities that are held for children, because they lived bad memories during the war, and must forget them with such various activities, expressing his wish that the south would return better than it was before the war.
As for Kamal Hamza, he describes the atmosphere as wonderful, and he says in his speech to Al -Jazeera Net:
“Life returned to our village, Kfarman, and the pulse returned to the south after all the bombing, destruction and displacement of it, and there is no doubt that the ruin is great, but the people have not died, but it remained alive, and this is evidence of their adherence to their land, and those who organize this activity are our children, and they will continue to live in all its forms.”
From the city of Baalbek, northeastern Lebanon, Shawky Fares came with his family to the town of Kfarman, who confirmed that their arrival is a message of encouragement for the festival and the revival of the town of Kfarman after all the destruction it was exposed to during the war, and he says to Al -Jazeera Net, “Everyone is pleased here, children and adults, and the most important thing is that people adhere to their land as olive trees, and this indicates that this land is a living people who return When you look at those around you, you see the joy you grow more and more, and, God willing, this region will return to life and everything becomes better. “
Sally Harb came from Akkar in northern Lebanon, the province that received hundreds of southern families displaced by the Israeli war, and Sally was a contact with them and built with them the best relationships, and today she came to stand as they are in this distinguished activity as she put it.

“Akkar inherently a hospitable and generous area, and the people of the south embraced during the crisis, although nothing compensates them for the pressure and loss they have gone through, but we tried to stand by their side, and I say to the people of the south, thank you because you, despite the distance, made us one people, and as you came to us in your difficult time, today we come to you in your beautiful time, and frankly the positive, because people are great They still love life and stick to their land. “
The organizer
Hussein Shukron, who is the Secretary General of the National Education Scouts, notes that this activity comes to honor workers on their Day, as women and men offer their own products made in the popular and heritage market, and the goal is not only to stand by the workers, but to restore life to the town and to all the south, and noted the steadfastness of the people and their great sacrifices for the sake of the land and its preservation.
Speaking to Al -Jazeera Net, Shukron praised the great participation of the people of the town and the people of the villages of the Nabatiyeh district and all the Lebanese regions who attended to make this activity that will last for two days.
